Boostinator kits make it easy to use non-Boost wheels with Boost-spaced frames and forks. You get more tire & rim clearance, stronger wheels and no dish - all the perks of Boost 15x110mm front and 12x148mm rear axles.
You don't need to replace your frame/fork/wheels - Boostinator kits let you use your existing hubs with a 15x100mm or 12x142mm fit. Disc and drivetrain positions stay the same, and Boostinator bolts and spacer re-dish for better spoke bracing angles. Each kit includes an axle end cap and rotor spacer, plus 6 high-strength bolts so you can get the full Boost advantage. Brakes & derailleurs also get a bump outboard, and work as designed.
Note: You will need to re-dish your wheel after installing any Boostinator.
Material: 6061 aluminum
Included: Rear kits come with appropriate-length Class 10.9 bolts – each roughly 40% stronger than more common Class 8.8 hardware
Q: What about the rim- won’t it be off center?
A: That’s true–but it’s an easy fix with some benefits:
Q: If the bolts are longer, will they break?
A: That is the last thing we want, so enlisted some engineers from our local nuclear weapons laboratory (seriously) to crunch the numbers. It turns out that, with the spacer installed each bolt is four times stronger than needed to handle the forces generated by the strongest brakes on the market. That said…
Q: The axle is unsupported–won’t it be flexy and horrible?
A: With the thru axle bearing the load the model is essentially identical to a Boost-native hub with slightly closer bearing placement.
Q: Will I need a new crankset or spider?
A: Possibly.
