    If you live or ride around the Wānaka area, you've probably ridden the Thomson Track a heap of times, since it offers a fantastic off-road bikepacking route to get from Wānaka through to the gravel delights of Central Otago, and a neat way to hook on to the rail trail for points east.

    Here is another handy (if slightly gnarlier) connector between the Lindis Pass Tarras Road (SH8) and the St Bathans Loop Road about 9km south of St Bathans. There's even a DOC hut (Lauder Basin hut) en route if you can stomach the 200m descent off the ridge!
