While adventuring by bicycle is undoubtedly a fairly sustainable and low-impact way to commute, get around and explore the world, it does undeniably come, like everything we consume, with a cost.

Bikes and gear need to be manufactured and transported, and how this happens is mostly out of the hands of the retailer and the customer. We can of course make smarter choices with which brands we encourage through our purchases, and some are certainly trying harder than others and deserve our support. The more we hold them to account, the better they will become.

Buying less and of good quality and using our gear until it wears out (and then fixing it!), is of course the way to go. But for the times when we do 'have' to buy new, I wanted to do something to help redress, albeit to a small degree, the impact made by bringing more stuff into the world.

So every time you order from Good Rotations, we will fund one tree to be planted by Eden Reforestation Projects (rated at 95% by Charity Navigator).

We pay for every tree at no cost to you. It's all taken care of automatically when you hit the buy button.

You can also go a bit further and plant more trees at the checkout, if you wish to add your support to the project.

And while I don't believe we can 'offset' all our bad habits, we do need more trees ;-)

A little bit about Eden Reforestation Projects:

Today, we operate in 10 project countries, plant nearly a million trees per day, and maintain planting levels even when faced with civil unrest, extreme weather, wild animals, or other disruptions. As we restore the forest canopy, leaf litter, water, and wildlife return, and nature begins to heal. Meanwhile, communities that are facing extreme poverty are given new opportunities at economic self-sufficiency, improved health, and education.

If you prefer to keep it more local, Te Kakano is doing amazing work down here in Wānaka, and you can support their planting projects here: https://www.tekakano.org.nz/donate
